Troop 44 News

Summer Camp 2015

We had a great time at Sabattis Adventure Camp.  We are signed up to go again, July 18-25.  The cost will be $361 per scout, payable by May 1st.

Canoe Trip 2015

The 50 mile trek we took last summer was awesome. We canoed from Cedarlands, up Long Lake and up the Raquette River to Tupper Lake. We also walked into the Santanoni Preserve. We are planning to do it again - canoeing from Blue Mountain Lake to Long Lake AND doing some whitewater rafting. We're planning on August 1-9.  We're hoping to keep the cost to around $200 per person, payable by May 1st.  Scouts must be 14 years old or have completed the 8th grade.

Turkey Dinner 2014

Thanks to all that helped out and attended. Despite the weather, we had around 100 people attend.

Eagle Scouts

Contgrats to Nick Ashton on becoming and Eagle Scout and being the Oneida County Boy Scout of the year. Mitchell West is almost done with his project at the Utica Zoo. 3 others have been approved - TJ Labayewski (work for the Country Pantry in Clark Mills), McKenzie Mazor (work for the Catholic Church in Oriskany Falls) and Paul White (work for the Clinton Library). We hope to have a couple more approved shortly.

Upcoming Events

We'll be headed out ice fishing (when the ice thickens) on Lake Marane - probably in the Jan-Feb time frame. We're checking into taking the Boy Scouts to the Pole Position race track in Destiny USA. The troop to the Buffalo Naval Park and Niagara Falls is April 11-12. Also, check out troop calendar for upcoming trips and a very special winter trip to Cedarlands.

Recruitment

It seems like we have new people joining every week (we have 25 registerd Boy Scouts and 15 registered Cub Scouts).  We’re recruiting boys between the ages of 6 and 17 for our troop and pack.  Please stop into a meeting and check things out.  The Cubs meet on Wed. nights from 6:30 - 7 and the Boy Scouts meet on Wed. nights from 7-8 in the upstairs of the Clark Mills American Legion.

Special Thanks to our Sponsors!

We truely have the best sponsors around - the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232 in Franklin Springs the Clark Mills American Legion Post 26.  We couldn’t do it without you.
